Keramikfestival anniversary parade

In 2025, Keramikfestival in Skælskør turns 10! We will mark the occasion with a wonderful parade through the town – a shared celebration of the material, the town, and the people behind Keramikfestival. The parade is a tribute to clay as a material, to all the people who support the event year after year, and to the group of local craftspeople who have shaped Keramikfestival from the very beginning.

Would you like to join?

Everyone is welcome. No experience is required – only the desire to help create something together. Whether you would like to build, carry, or play, you will help make the parade a reality.
The parade takes place on 9 July 2025 at 10:30 and 16:00, and you can take part in several different ways:

Create sound with clay

Part of the parade consists of an ensemble playing clay whistles. The whistles are made in a workshop with musician and composer Aksel Striim. We will build our own clay whistles. They will be fired and used in the parade, becoming part of its soundscape. Afterwards, the whistle will be yours to keep.

Would you like to join? – then please reserve the following dates:
Saturday 17 May, 13:00–16:00
We will make clay whistles under the guidance of Aksel Striim
Tuesday 8 July, 17:00–20:00
We will rehearse the musical accompaniment under the guidance of Aksel Striim and Tippe Molsted
Wednesday 9 July, 09:00–17:00
We will meet at Skælskør Gamle Skole, Gammelgade 10, Building D.
Parade at 10:30 + 16:00

The workshop is free of charge and takes place in Magila’s premises at Skælskør Gamle Skole, Gammelgade 10, Building D.

Help build

The parade is being built in Magila’s workshop at Skælskør Gamle Skole. Figures and costumes are produced in open workshops where everyone can take part – regardless of experience. The large parade figures are shaped using a special papier-mâché technique and will reference ceramic objects – cups, vases, jars – and the costumes are simple and can be sewn either in the workshop or at home.
